For administrative purposes, London is divided into five main areas. Inner London lies at the centre, surrounded by a ring of large, mostly featureless commuter districts: Orbital North, Orbital West, Orbital South and the SX Overspill. At the top of the pile, central government and the Lord Protector's office are responsible for policy decisions and their implementation, major budgets and so on. The Administrative Bureau of the LP's office appoints the civil service bureaucrats who liaise with local government officials to arrange funding, and data from the Chancellery Net are used to assist economic and demographic forecasting.
